HREC Presentation at the Ukrainian National Museum of Chicago
While in Chicago to participate in the ASEEES convention, scholars from HREC delivered presentations at a Holodomor commemoration event at the Ukrainian National Museum of Chicago. The event was organized by the museum, the Ukrainian Genocide Famine Foundation of the USA, and the Kyiv Committee of Chicago Sister Cities International. Frank Sysyn spoke on the place of Ukrainian Studies in the context of Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies. Bohdan Klid’s presentation focused on HREC’s research and publication initiatives, including the Oseredok Project, the Maniak Collection, and translation projects. Jars Balan discussed the life and trailblazing work of Canadian journalist Rhea Clyman, one of the few reporters to witness and write about the Ukrainian Famine of 1932-33.
