Event at the Embassy of Ukraine
HREC co-organized an event at the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington, DC, together with the Shevchenko Scientific Society-Washington DC Chapter and the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America. Liudmyla Hrynevych spoke on propaganda and its role in the Holodomor; Bohdan
Klid, on HREC’s research and publication projects; Frank Sysyn, on the roots of the academic study of the Holodomor in the West; and Marta Baziuk, on the success of HREC in engaging scholars from a wide range of fields. Larysa Kurylas, design architect and sculptor of the Holodomor Memorial in Washington, discussed the genesis of the Holodomor Memorial design and challenges in its execution.
