A Garden in Full Bloom

Professor Iryna Dmytrychyn gave a lecture entitled “A Garden in Full Bloom”  in Montreal at the invitation of the Shevchenko Scientific Society on October 27, 2019, about Edouard Herriot’s trip to Ukraine and subsequent denial of the Holodomor. She also spoke at the University of Ottawa on this subject, sponsored by the Chair of Ukrainian Studies.

Iryna Dmytrychyn is chair of the Department of Ukrainian Studies at the Institut national des langues et civilisations orientales (Paris). She is the author of books on Hryhorii Orlyk (2005) and on Édouard Herriot’s trip to Ukraine in 1933 (2018). She has translated the works of contemporary Ukrainian writers into French (Yu. Andrukhovych, S. Zhadan, M. Matios, O. Zabuzhko, S. Andrukhovych, A. Kokotiukha). With Iaroslav Lebedynsky, she heads the project Présence ukrainienne at the publishing house L’Harmattan, where she has published Oleg Sentsov’s stories (2017) and Anthologie du Donbas (2018).
